The weather did not exactly co-operate for our re-opening weekend, but that did mean that
we had the chance to “feel our way” in relation to the measures that we had introduced to
protect against the threat of COVID-19.
Nevertheless, we had a reasonable turnout on both days, and the feedback received is that
members considered that the measures that we had put in place worked reasonably well
without being too overbearing. We have learned some lessons, and will be making some
minor changes to procedures and protocols prior to next weekend.
We will be opening on Friday (10 July) between 5-8pm, and then again over the weekend
(midday – 8pm both days). This is likely to be the pattern in the short term, and we are
reviewing arrangements on an ongoing basis in the light of sales and ongoing costs. The bar
will be staffed by volunteers on Friday nights.
Because of the reduced opening hours, we clearly cannot achieve the usual throughput of ale,
and there is the risk of wastage owing to the club being closed for over four days at a time.
Accordingly, if members wish to bring containers with them during opening hours, we will
be happy to provide off sales.
